My father and I used to always be at each other’s throats. We’d scream and argue all the time and we’d never treat each other well. Because of this, I mentioned a line about this in my Soft White Underbelly interview a year-and-a-half ago and it really hurt him. I felt awful about it but tried to make it up to him.
And as time has passed we have calmed down. I hang out with him in our room of fish tanks where we paint. In the mornings we drink coffee together and talk. And I have slowly forgiven him and he has slowly forgiven me. Now, we are collaborating on an art project together. He’s an old man (hahaha) so he doesn’t know technology well. I am currently managing his Facebook business page for his art. I take pictures of his paintings, post them, and share them around.
I am also pleased to announce that his art will be the cover photo’s of this website. In fact, the cover photo for this post is indeed a painting he made. He paints either surreal portraits, or just abstract surrealism. And he’s rather good at it too.
I have forgiven my father. I love him dearly and I’m very excited to work together with him. His art is really amazing.
